Descriptions
We sampled a 73 m interval of this DK section to obtain geochemical proxies for cyclostratigraphic analysis. Sampling was at 5-cm resolution for the strata above the gravel layer at 57-58 m (the first gravel layer from the top; 73-59 m) and for the basal 25 m, whereas the middle part (59-25 m) was sampled at 10-cm intervals, yielding a total of 1,121 samples. In the sandy conglomerate layer, the finer silts were collected. The abundance of Calcium (Ca) and Titanium (Ti) of powdered samples were measured with a portable energy-dispersive Innov-X Systems X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometer in geochemistry mode using beam1 (50 kv) and beam (10 kv) at the Qinghai Institute of Salt Lakes, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xining. The measurement time for each sample was at least 50 s, and we used the average value of three measurements.
